Short, concise description of the idea
I think LJ needs a built in URL shortener for URLS.

Full description of the idea
It could be temp. like it would expire in 5 hrs or something. But like, you could have ljurl.com/?38473434 like tinyurl or something, but only for urls. You could have like, a button next to the link button that generates a smaller url.
An ordered list of benefits

• Smaller urls for cutting and pasting in irc, aim, etc.
• programs which do not automatically make the url clickable and so wrap the urls.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved

• More DB stress
• possible user confusion.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

• steal tinyurls code and integrate with LJ
