Title
Deletion message
Short, concise description of the idea
Give people a place to post a little message explaining why they deleted their journal.
Full description of the idea
When you click on the userinfo of a user who has deleted his/her journal you get this standard text. Deleted Account Deleted This journal has been deleted. If you are usernamexxx, you have a period of 30 days from the deletion time to undelete the journal. After 30 days we will delete all content permanently from our servers. Now why not have users enter some sort of goodbye message when they choose to delete their journal. This message should then appear together with the above text informing other users that the user has deleted...
An ordered list of benefits
  • Allow users who delete their journals to tell their LJ-friends why they are doing it, if it is temporary or not etc...
  • Less users wondering if their friends are in some kind of trouble...
  • A happier LiveJournal crowd.

  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Not everybody will want to enter such a text so the option to leave it blank must be allowed.
  • Perhaps some people would prefer to be able to apply a filter on this message so that they can select who can see the goodbye message.
  • ...

  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • Writing and implementing this will take work. I don't think it should be very complicated, but I'm not LJ-code savvy enough to judge.
  • § historical, account deletion, deleted accounts
