Speaking as a LiveJournal users, not as Suggestions moderator:

I think LiveJournal already meets a lot of these needs without the formally organized groups, since it is already anonymous unless the user chooses otherwise, and I know it has been helpful that way for me. Still, I can see that the formal system could have some benefits:
1. Specifically advertising anonymous support as a benefit of using the site
2. For those who already have a group of friends on LJ and would like to receive support that is anonymous even from that goup, this could be an easy way to find a small group of new people for that and to filter discussions to just that group. (as opposed to using a community dedicated to the purpose, which could have a much larger group and no guarantee of privacy, and if you bring your small anonymous group back to your own journal, the filtering could be a pain.)

I'm not sure that those additional benefits for people in certain situations would justify the work of creating a new system for these groups. Probably a better solution would be for a person to start a separate LJ account and seek a small group of anonymous friends through that.
