Again, Americans will never support anything that messes with Freedom of Speech, one of our basic rights (mandated by the Constitution).

Sure. Sometimes you have to listen to things you don't like or don't approve of. Oh well! At least people have the opportunity to express themselves freely.

If someone says something you don't like (like profanity), you can always IGNORE it, after all. Like getting SPAM emails -- you don't have to read them, you can just delete them.

If you're in a community where you see profanity frequently, you could just leave that community -- or stop viewing what's shared there.

There are always options. But forcing filters on others takes AWAY our options. And we've always had a lot of freedoms here at LiveJournal (I've been here since 2002)...
