Provide a check box acknowledging the password security server message without making any changes to your password, to prevent future displays of the same server message.
Full description of the idea
After posting, a server message comes up if the site has deemed your password to be not secure enough. It gives helpful links to FAQs on what Livejournal feels a secure password is and how to change your password.
If, however, somewhere you can check a box indicating that you acknowledge that your password does not fit within LJ's definition of "secure" but still decline to change it, it would be immensely helpful for those of us in that category.
Many users need to see that server message, so the box should be placed in a way so as to discourage the "don't read, click, and move on" phenomenon. But for those of us that read the message, acknowledge it, disagree with it, and still would like to move on without being constantly nagged, it should be available without too much of an ordeal.
An ordered list of benefits
- Users would no longer be annoyed by the constant nagging.
- Users with secure passwords that don't fit within LJ's definitions of secure can proceed to use the site without arguments from the server.
- More user control over password strength or weakness.
- If placed too obviously, users who DO have weak passwords but are unaware of it, may blindly click the box.
