Using purged usernames without renaming

Title
Using purged usernames without renaming

Short, concise description of the idea
I would love it if you were able to directly create an account with a purged username without creating an account with an UNUSED username and then renaming.

Full description of the idea
I want to create a new LiveJournal account, and I want a certain username which is purged. I'm absolutely okay with paying $15 for the cost of recycling that username, but it just feels so WEIRD to have to create a separate account with a throwaway name, and then rename it. I mean, I'm okay with typing in 15 random letters and numbers so as to create an extremely unappealing username that no one would likely use, but it feels... wrong. It seems to make so much more sense to be able to create an account using a purged username off the bat, pay a $15 fee for the chance to use that username, and start fresh.
An ordered list of benefits
  • I would not have to think of a purposely bad username in order to not feel guilty about creating a username and immediately throwing it away. Am I correct in thinking that even if I later rename an account, the name I ORIGINALLY registered under is marked as used up and has to be purged like any other name?
  • Thinking up usernames is already hard enough for me! I should only have to think of ONE if I'm making an account, no matter what the circumstances.
  • This would conserve usernames. Rather than using 1 new name plus reusing 1 old name, I would just be reusing 1 old name. Reduce, reuse, recycle! Think of the er... environment?
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • I get the feeling this is difficult to implement, or it would have been done already, since it's so intuitive...

purged accounts, account renaming, § no status
