Title
Provide User-class information about viewer via S2

Short, concise description of the idea
Currently S2 can only pass certain information about the viewer of a journal/entry in the form of a boolean value. I'd like more viewer information, including User-class info such as username, name, and default pic, available in order to create more customized layouts.

Full description of the idea
Right now S2 can pass along boolean values for such things as whether or not the reader of an entry/journal is the author, is a friend of the author, is a member of the community, or even if they are logged in. Some information about ad positioning is also passed along.

What I'd like to see is some information that is currently only available about the author of an entry or comment be made available about the viewer for S2 layers to use. Primarily I'm interested in username, since most other functions can be constructed from this, but name (formatted name like John Q Public), default_pic, and website_name and website_url could be useful as well.
An ordered list of benefits
  • Ability to create more personalized layouts - I imagine this would be primarily used in community layouts, where you can have personalized messages and link for members, but it might be fun to have special greetings for friends who visit your journal.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Privacy - Having your name and default userpic splashed across a friend or communities journal could be kind of creepy.
  • Privacy again - Could the username of viewers be somehow stored and used to create a list of viewers despite their own My Guests settings?
  • Technical infeasibilty - It might be hard to adapt S2 at this point to add in this sort of function.
