Accessibility issues are mitigated with the Lynx site scheme, and I think we have enough to test without having to introduce something else.

There have been exhaustive posts about why opt-outs aren't generally offered; it just isn't tenable to make opt-outs for everything. If you don't like the new headers, you can use a user stylesheet to override them, or you can switch to the Lynx site scheme, IMO.

Except that Lynx isn't really an equivalent alternative as it is missing almost all the navigation links. It's great for low-bandwidth, but not really so much for visual accessiblity without losing function.

Yeah, my understanding was that Lynx hasn't been updated to reflect current navigational structure, and isn't paid attention to. If Lynx were to be updated as regularly as Horizon/Vertigo, I would be okay with having that as a realistic Plain Jane option.

Um. In firefox or safari maybe, but def. not with lj's stylesheets are those affect only the layout (even the navbar is not as easily changed with them).

Correct me if I'm wrong, though, I'd love to get rid of the fugly header pics with overrides.

Except I just tried this by blocking the kitschy image that Lanzelot is riddled with this month and it gave me a brown background with still blue navigation, hard to read links etc... whereas before changing headers the background was blue.
