Real post
It's been a few since I put something of substance up here. So far break's been alright. I've had days of super productive-ness and days of absolutley nothing-ness. So it's a pretty good balance.
Yesterday I got up and took Seth to work, then came home and got ready to go out to Groveport Freshman School. (Oh.. via Maria, I got involved with this program called VIVA which places biligual (spanish) students with younger kids in schools that don't speak english very well to help them assimilate themselves a little eaiser, help them with homework). Let me just say I will never bitch about Wadsworth High School ever again. My bedroom is bigger (and has almost as many books) as the library. There were only 8 computers for a school of 500 or more. I heard a teacher cussing out a student. And about 4 more girls sneaking around to the teacher's bathroom to smoke. --It really made me see how good I had it. There are 5 kids who we're going to be tutoring. I spent most of my time talking to a girl named Maria. She's really into music. I was asking her if she liked any american music and she said she probably would if she could understand it more. I'm thinking I might take one song and we could work on her english that way.. print out the lyrics or something.
There was one boy who walked in (his name is Jonny) and I swear this kid at 15 is already half the size of Seth. He walked in and was like "Can I go to the bathroom" in rather perfect english... and we didn't see him after that. Courtney (program coordinator) said he was supposed to be in the program more for his academics than his english.
After that, I picked Seth up from work and headed home to get ready for work. We had an event that was sponsored by the humane society. $1 of every drink we sold was donated... and we were SWAMPED the whole time. There were 5 bartenders and we still got killed. It was fun though. Although my finger is all torn up from opening beer bottles (the other 2 girls took the bottle openers lol).
Once we got everything cleaned up Linda, Cole, Chi, and I headed over to the Varsity Club for a couple drinks. It was nice just to hang out w/ people from work. Then I came home and tried to read but only lasted about 4 minutes.
So far today I've cleaned the ENTIRE apartment and now I'm about ready to start on my room. I think I might head over to Stephanie's tonight and (hopefully) go hang out with Seth and his friends after he gets off work.
It'll be nice to get everything cleaned and put away before class starts again. Because in a few weeks I have to start packing it all up!
