scousers are odd people. if you meet them outside of liverpool theyre cool as fuck. you try going to liverpool, and every scouser hates outsiders. my mate went to uni up there, described it as the worst three years of his life.

actually, depending on where you go thats almost true. though there are a few places (which happen to be my favourites) that are totally open
though to mancs and southerners; everywhere is probably a bit dodgy (that said to people from a foreign country likely everywhere is cool)
places like barfly, le bateau, korova and zanzibar are usually 50/50 scouser/student anyway though so no bother

remind me not to make replies on lj when i come in after spending the day drinking...

anyway, the fella is of course generalising too much but i can imagine it to be true that his friend had trouble at uni, they tend to house middle class students with obvious comparitive wealth in amongst shitty run down areas of northern cities and it does cause tensions sometimes, in sheffield friends with southern accents would often get singled out by drunken locals for abuse for example, and i've heard many many horror stories about salford uni.
and of course the people who wander round the rest of the country and travel and that aren't the same sort of people who live on the same street all their lives...
