Story of my Engagement

I'm engaged! !!! !!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kevin asked me Thursday, July 2nd. We had made reservations to stay at this fantastic Bohemian, hippy lodge for three nights (Thurs / Fri / Sat) so we could get out of the city and enjoy some awesome Washington fireworks. So, Kevin's mom was taking care of the cat, so we drop off the key at their place and continue on to Seaview, WA. The accommodation was an original 1950s trailer (one of 12 trailers and we got the last one a few weeks ago when I reserved it). It was all decked out in wonderful authentic decor. The guy that ran the place was this old Grateful Dead hippy sort (reminded me of the old men from Eugene) and had this 30 minute shpeal during the check-in process about which artist painted this artwork and which curtain was hand-painted. I kept wondering when we'd be able to get to the trailer and just relax. But, okay back to the engagement story but I'm painting the scene :)

So, we escape from the nice lodge owner and head to the trailer, where I assume we are going to chill out but no, it's 8:30 p.m. and we HAVE to go to the beach Kevin says. I'm like ok... let's walk (It's only like a 10 minute walk to the beach). "No, we have to drive," he says. So we get back in the car and drive down to the beach. We get out and start walking in the surf and there is a girl with her surfboard out there and I say, "ohh, let's watch her and see what she does." But he's like "No, let's keep going." So I kinda turn my back on him and stumble along. I just think he's crabby from the long drive he just did or something. So then, he turns me around and pulls a little red box out of his pocket and says, ... well, that's private ... but the jist of it was "will you marry me?" and all I can say is "your kidding, your not serious" and I am thinking (it's earrings in that box , it's not an engagement ring) so then I fumble and open the box and inside is SURPRISE another box. So I pull that out and before I open that one. (He's on his knees still), he says "you have to give me your answer first. " So I say "yes" in full-belief that it's just earrings and how I shouldn't cry (I know -- Why? -- I don't know). And I open the box and ... It's NOT EARRINGS. I immediately say "your serious!" and just keep saying that over and over again. And he puts the ring on my finger and we hug and the sun is going down and there is hardly anyone on the beach but some surfer who is long forgotten.

It didn't REALLY hit me until a few hours later. Then I cried. I am soooo happy!
