j-search update
I just wanted to take a moment and update everyone on how my job search is going. I've gotten in to a rut right now because VERY few companies take unsolicited resumes for copy editors... meaning that if I send my resume it gets disregarded until I send it at a time when there is a job open. Second, if that weren't the only downer, the industry is so competitive that if someone HAS that full-time job they are holding on to it or they are promoting from within because I haven't seen very few copy editing jobs come available. I've frantically applied for the ones I have found. I got one call back and am waiting to hear back on the results of my copy editing test. One can only hope--- at least I feel I did my best. I can only hope for as much.
I took a trip down to Salem to visit my mom for a few days. Nick has two new German Shepherd puppies. Even before I saw them, I had wanted one. I like the long-haired Alsatians better. They are much more cute! Still, they look like good dogs. Mom is good. She's recovered from being ill last month. I'm very glad about that. Sugar was all over me and it's always so nice to have a cat never leave you alone! They are the best.
I'm trying to stay busy but being on my period, no AC in this heat and trying to stay near internet (to constantly check my work e-mail to see if any offers came in) has made it difficult. Just seems easier to lounge around the house watching Netflix with the fans on. I'm working on a digital scrapbook of my Europe adventures and that's proving to be a lot of fun. It's going to be a mammoth tome though...
Speaking of tomes, I watched the Spiderwick Chronicles today! It was very enjoyable. I think I am going to put the book on hold with the library. Good times!
