A/N: This is the beginning of a new story arc for me. For the purposes of this fic, Luna Lovegood is considered Lily Luna's godmother, even though JKR never explicitly states this.
"Now, tell me, what did you come here for?" Luna inquired, her protruding grey eyes widening at Lily. She had shown up on Luna's doorstep, unannounced and wringing her hands, saying that she needed to tell something important to Luna.
Luna had invited Lily in for tea and Lily kept biting her lip nervously as she wrapped a lock of her red hair absentmindedly around her pale fingers over and over again.
Now, sitting at the table in Luna's kitchen, Lily's nerves were getting the better of her. She put her trembling hands in her lap and suddenly seemed aware at the amount of freckles that were on them, speckling her pale skin. "I, um...wanted to tell you something important a-and I wasn't sure who else I could go to."
She looked back up at Luna, who had a knowing smile on her face. "It's okay, you can tell me anything you want, Lily. I won't judge you."
Lily took a deep breath, steeling herself for what would happen next. "I-I like girls. I think." She exhaled rapidly.
"There's nothing wrong with that," Luna responded.
Calm washed over Lily. "Really?"
"Of course not. You like who you like."
"See, that's the thing. It would be one thing to only like boys or to only like girls, but...well, I like both," Lily said, biting her lip.
Luna shrugged. "A lot of people are the same. It's not as rare as you think. I myself am bisexual."
Lily was surprised at her godmother's confession. "But you're married to Rolf and you have kids!"
Luna smiled at Lily again, taking one of her hands out of her lap. "Just because I'm married to a man and have children does not mean I can't find women attractive."
Luna stroked the back of Lily's hand with her thumb. Lily's breath hitched in her chest, her heart beating faster. "I told Albus about me liking both girls and boys and he said he didn't understand. He said that I had to pick a side...like he did."
Luna's thumb kept up its rhythmic stroking. "Oh boys. Always so literal about things. I'm sure Albus was insecure about liking boys and tried to repress it."
"I guess," Lily said, being soothed by Luna's touch.
"You don't have to 'pick a side,' Lily. I didn't."
"You didn't? But, what about Rolf?"
Luna's hand traveled up Lily's arm. "Rolf understands that sometimes he can't give me what a woman can."
Lily shivered as Luna's touch raised goose pimples up her arm. "So, it'll be okay then?"
Luna chuckled softly, her hand rubbing Lily gently. "Yes. It will be okay."
