steady, as she goes

yes, i bought the raconteurs cd, "broken boy soldiers," and it's fab. "steady, as she goes" is an awesome song, as are "level," "blue veins," "call it a day," and "together." a great blend of jack white's garage rock and brendan benson's poppy tunes, and they sound fantastic together. i wonder if they're going on tour....
heather also burned me "sea change," "guero," "midnite vultures," and "mellow gold" by beck and they are all super and each one has a different feel to it. love them all, thanks heather!

i also finished a book, finally! "the double" by jose saramago. it's about this guy who watches a movie and one of the bit actors is his, you guessed it, exact double. i really like the way saramago writes (check out "blindness," it's even better) and i thought the book was quite unique. i recommend it!

now on to basketball.

pistons were able to come back and beat cleveland in games 6 and 7. 6 was a real nail-biter, but we seemed to have a bit of the old swing back in game 7, wrapping up round 2. now it's on to the eastern conference finals and the heat, but the pistons weren't able to pull out a win in game 1...very sad. don't know what's up with those guys, but they need to step up tonight and get the momentum back in their favor.
the suns also had a 7 game series in round 2 against the clippers (that other l.a. team), and they moved on in a rather unexciting game 7 (suns pretty much had it won by the second half). their first game in the western conference finals against dallas was a different story, however! there were lead changes, runs by both teams, and dallas up in the last minute, but boris diaw was awesome and phoenix was able to come back and win it in the last seconds. yay! that's going to be a fun series.
a note on dallas: really very glad they beat san antonio. mwahaha take that defending champions! dallas is a good team and i wouldn't be totally crushed if they beat phoenix, but if that happens i at least want a 7 game series to see the most i can of steve nash.

whew!! okay then, a few more notes and then i'll be off.

i loooooooove robot chicken and seth green, who is the creator. i've been watching the show on sundays (adult swim on cartoon network) and it's freakin' hilarious. and seth green was on conan the other night and he did dead-on impersonations of owen wilson and matthew mcconaughey.

season finales, done finally. a quick recap. grey's anatomy: too long and overdramatic, just as expected. i pretty much hate meredith and want to choke her. or feed her a steak. or a combination of both. anyway. desperate housewives: surprising but also too long. house: weird and sort of disappointing. lost: AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!! and another cliffhanger, man are they good. it didn't drag at all, some questions were answered, some new ones arose, and i was tense basically the whole time. pretty much all i could ask for from a season finale.

work is fine. i don't like closing, but opening is okay. the people are nice, i'm busy the whole time. i'm also tired when i get home, but eh. money.

well if you were able to make it through that exceptionally long entry, congrats and have a cookie. enjoy the beautiful weekend.
