This was such a great gapfiller for poor Jeyne's story, although a heart-breaking one: I think it touched me most that she'll never get back her innocent, girlish friendship with the Sansa Stark she once knew. It seems somehow fitting to leave her story open-ended, since her future is so precarious and uncertain, but I hope she'll find a measure of happiness somewhere.

Thank you! That's really what I intended this to be - a good gapfiller - and I'm glad you enjoyed her friendship with Sansa. When I was writing this, I really wanted to almost foil them, so in a way it sheds light on Sansa as much as Jeyne. I imagine they were really sweet before all the war/kidnappings/identity crises happened, and they've both been through so much. That was my favorite part of this story, too.

This was an extremely compelling read - love what you'd imagined happened to Jeyne and her sympathetic portrayal here.

Tonight I was replying to comments on the mix and I had the urge to read this again. It's just such a beautiful story. Thank you again for choosing my mix and writing something so lovely!

Haha, and a thank you in return! I know this fic is kind of a monster (and, seeing as it centers on Jeyne, kind of obscure), but I'm really glad other people have a soft spot for it the way I do.

I didn't get to dl (and comment), but I saw your Sansa mix the other day and it gave me chills just looking it over. The music seemed so appropriate. Some of it I've seen in relation to Sansa, some of it I knew otherwise, a lot was new... I have a feeling it's perfect. I'm looking forward to going back for it soon.

It's been years, but I hope you see this anyway dontpronunciate January 17 2023, 22:28:57 UTC
Rarely have I been as moved as I was when I first read this. Heartbreaking, filling and satiating all curiosity I had for the past she's been implied to have during ACOK, painfully realistic in the characterisation of Asha, Theon & Sansa. Truly a masterwork that I'm very happy of having found.
The use of pearls as a common theme and their falsehood was such a smart detail considering she wears real pearls on her wedding to Ramsay Bolton. Usually, pearls during a wedding are said to be a bad luck charm. I loved seeing how you played with the false pearls as part of the narrative.
Every time I finish reading this I feel this contracting type of emptiness in my chest, like my heart had consumed itself. I loved the sentimentally ambiguous relationship between her and Theon, which made me shed a few tears, and the situation was very similar with Sansa and her relationship, although the tears were much more bitter this time.

Thank you, truly, for having written and shared this. I can't express how impactful it is.
