quick poll -- we are making a movie you guys and it's going to be a collective effort!
after the disaster that was the oscars last night (and without even getting into the ceremony, jesus), i'm kind of curious about the overall reaction to the films/winners this year. i found the majority of my various social media timelines disappointed in the likes of argo, jennifer lawrence, and tarantino, (despite my bitchy commentary via twitter, i really can't vouch for anyone or anything besides my love for ang lee because i didn't see a single one of the nominated films), SO i really wanted to take a quick self-serving poll and ask y'all what you WOULD like to see in a movie. here's what i mean:
* genre is a good start
* plot-centered or character-centered?
* what kind of narratives do you like? (i like the devil in a holy place & god-making & demeter/mother-protector stories)
* what kind of character tropes do you like? (i like witch queens & aristocratic/other-worldly siblings hellbent on destroying the world & angry, hollow men with worms crawling around in their insides)
* things you would motherfucking love to see that aren't necessarily central to the storyline/make sense coherency-wise (for example, i would love to see a bar scene where a group of characters drunkenly reenact measure for measure in under 10 minutes)
* things you are so goddamn tired of and would love to never have to see again (for me it's: falling in love with your bitchy best friend's dreamy boyfriend The Narrative or affair stories in which the Lover is a Hero and the Husband is a Bad Guy and the Heroine is actually just a damsel who hasn't discovered the option of poisoning everyone yet)
* anything else you want to include in your movie that you are making wow! cast it if you want! fun!!!!!
