A trip down memory lane

I was sitting on the bus today and I heard this girl speaking english on her mobile. Since finnish buses are so quiet and no one ever talks, I was able to listen to her entire conversation. (I wasn't the only one. I heard a few boys commenting on her conversation after she got off the bus) She was telling a friend of hers how they had "slave day" in her school today and how she had to dress up in stupid clothes and carry all her school books in a cardboard box. I immediately knew that she must be a first year in my old highschool since it is the only highschool with an International Baccelaureate system (classes taught in english and not in finnish).

It made me think about my first year in highschool. I remember thinking back then that I was really old and mature since I was in highschool. Now when I listened to that girl on the bus and looked at her, she seemed so small and young. It's hard to believe I'm now starting my second year in university.  When did I get so old? I'll be 21 in a few months. Scary.

We had a tiny (and I mean tiny) highschool class reunion a few weeks ago. Only a few people showed up but it was nice nonetheless. All the girls there are either living with their boyfriends or are looking for a house together. One of them is engaged. Not saying that's where I myself want to be right now, but it's just scary how time goes by so fast. Soon I'll be 30!! How depressing is that.

I'm glad I'm no longer in highschool though. I was a stupid teenager.
