Haven House 2012: Jordan video

Feb 21, 2012 22:09

Because this LJ is public, I'm going to tell those of you who follow this to go to my facebook page if you want to see the video I'm referencing.

This past weekend, my aunt, uncle, Jordan's sister and brother and their spouses went to celebrate St. Louis' Haven House's anniversary. Among the black tie event was a tribute video that my aunt and uncle were interviewed for. Just recently, my cousin posted it on her facebook for everyone to see. In turn, a few cousins and I have shared it on our facebook pages.

I swear, I cannot breathe after watching it. I sobbed at the very beginning when my aunt merely talked about Jordan's birth. "I have a son, his name is Jordan" And my uncle talked about how he and Jordan would go for 50 mile bike rides and play golf together. My aunt explained how Jordan's back was hurting him and then they found out he had Ewing's Sarcoma in 2010 which is a type of back bone cancer. "For five weeks, six days a week" chemo and radiation treatments. They stayed at the Haven House because the three hour drive was too much and the hotel bills would have been insane. The Haven House is like a second family that took them in.

It is just like a new wound has been ripped open in my heart. My little cousin is gone. Three years younger than me. He died when he was barely only 22 years old. It is not fair by any stretch of the imagination. I love Jordan very much. I miss him so much. And if I was living downstate across the street from his house, it would be even worse.

Words cannot describe how horrible this is. He was my little brother, my little cousin, an amazing friend. I will miss him forever.
