Summary: The Haninozuka and Morinozuka families take a cruise together. It's too bad they can't seem to get along.
I wrote this for
lovinjerryt, who RP's the best Chika in the universe. Uwaaa, sorry it's just a drabble, Kels. And that it's kinda pointless.
This is my entry for
ouran_contest's "trip" challenge. 500 words or less, baby.
“Chika-chaaaaaaaaan!” Mitsukuni Haninozuka shouted with joy, leaping across the small distance between them and latching himself onto his younger brother. “Are you excited?”
“It’s ‘Yasuchika’,” Chika said with a sigh, pushing at the small blonde who had perched himself on his shoulders. Chika wasn’t much bigger than his older brother and the weight made him stagger. “And get off of me!”
“Lighten up, Chika,” Satoshi said in an easy drawl, ducking into the lower cabin of the boat with his suitcase slung over one shoulder. “We haven’t even set off the shore yet and already you’re making a fuss.”
“I’m not making a fuss!” Chika argued, furious as he turned on Satoshi, Hunny still wobbling happily on his shoulders. “I just don’t want this alien sitting on me the whole trip!”
“Alien?” Hunny wailed. “I’m not an alien, Chika-chan!”
“Yes you are!” Chika argued. “You eat cake at three in the morning and you whistle while you brush your teeth! Don’t try to tell me a normal human being does things like that!”
“Don’t be such a brat!” Satoshi yelled. “You’re ruining the vacation for the rest of us!”
“The vacation hasn’t even started yet!” Chika replied, scowling deeply at his cousin. “And if anyone ruins it, it’s going to be Mitsukuni! With his noisy cake-eating and all those bunnies he packed into the rooms we’ll never get any sleep!”
“Stop yelling!” Hunny wailed, clutching Usa-chan to his chest. “You’re both scary!”
All at once, a looming shadow fell over the three, and Mori stepped in with his bags held expertly in one hand. He set them down and slid them under one of the beds, and then he strode forward and picked up Hunny from Chika’s shoulders.
“You shouldn’t do things people don’t like, Mitsukuni,” he scolded gently in his straightfaced way. Hunny pouted.
“But I was just--”
“I mean it.”
Hunny humphed and crossed his arms. “You’re so mean, Takashi.”
“Mitsukuni…” Mori stared at him, and almost immediately Hunny dissolved into tears.
“I’m sorry, Takashi!” he wailed, barreling into the taller boy’s chest. Mori patted his head in a fatherly sort of way until he stopped weeping, and Chika rolled his eyes. “And I’m sorrrrrrry Chika-chan! I didn’t mean to make you mad at me. Please forgive me!”
“What?” Chika asked, irritated and surprised all at once. With a long, low sigh he finally nodded, crossing his arms. “I guess I can forgive you. I don’t want everybody to… um… have a bad time on the vacation because of us.”
“That’s the spirit, Chika!” Satoshi said happily, slinging an arm around Chika’s shoulders. Almost immediately tempers flared up again and Mori simply smiled in a fond way that no one saw and went above deck to feed the gulls.
