Welcome to the first day of March, woo-hoo! Hopefully all this snow melts and the weather warms up because this winter has not been fun at all.

I don't have much planned for today, originally I was suppose to go to the mall to exchange a blouse I bought on Friday but I'm feeling way too lazy to do that now. So instead I'm staying home to do some cleaning and meal prep for the week, something that's entirely new to me but I'm willing to give it a try.

Remember when I was working at that awful dog boarding kennel in December? Well I finally got my pay for Dec 1-14! Turns out my former supervisor (the one I did not like and thought was a total dipshit) got fired and was suppose to be on top of me getting my pay check. Apparently, she let an anti-social dog off it's leash and it ended up attacking and nearly killing a senior dog with cancer. It's believed that she was probably high at the time because she's been seen rolling up blunts in the kitchen (where everything is on camera). Working there I completely disagreed with the company allowing anti-social and aggressive dogs into the facility because it conveys the message to these dog owners that it's okay to have dogs with behavior problems, we'll just accommodate them for you, giving people with these dogs the impression that they don't have to train their dogs out of these terrible behaviors. At this kennel they do separate the aggressive non-social dogs from the regular dogs and take them outside at different times but no matter what precautions are taken, these dogs are dangerous and something could go wrong and unfortunately it did. Also, they haven't found a competent office manager or HR person either so all this time I haven't been able to get my pay check, even with the constant emails and phone calls. This week, the owner (also a dipshit) told me she had mailed me my pay check a month ago. I told her I didn't receive it and was told by my former supervisor that she would only pay me after she had verified my hours, which was not done. Then she tried to give me the run around saying her husband recalls cutting me a check and mailing it, in which I responded he did for the week of Dec 15-28 not Dec 1-14. Of course she didn't believe me so she thought she would give ADP a call, see if the check was cashed or not. No response on the status of that but she finally emailed me saying that my check would be ready for pick up tomorrow (Friday) after 12pm. So I showed up close to 1pm asking for my pay check. It wasn't there with the other employees' pay checks so they went into the owner's office to look for it. There they found a note with my name on it but no pay check. At this point I was extremely pissed off and said "look I was told that I could pick up my pay check here after 12pm, which it is and so you guys better get your crap together because I'm not leaving here without money in my hands". To which they told me to calm down, have a seat and they'll look into my file. I was not having it so said I said "get me the coffee, but I'm standing right here until I get my money." Then I showed them all the emails to prove my correspondence with my former supervisor and the owner. These were new employees so they were pretty out of the loop but I didn't care, I wanted my money. Then they started making phone calls and doing other bullshit which made me even more agitated so I said them "I have to leave in ten minutes so you guys better cut me a check here and now or I'm taking the money out of the register". Finally, they presented me with a check, I grabbed the coffee and was on my way. I'm so glad I got my money but hate that it fucking took this long. Now I'm officially done with that place and I hope they get their pants sued by the injured dog's owner because clearly they don't know how to run a dog boarding/day care facility at all.

After I got my check, Lawrence dropped me off at the mall because I just found out a few days ago that I'll be starting work Tuesday instead of at the end of March like it had been planned. Tomorrow I have the orientation and will be going over more paper work with the HR person. I'm super excited to start on Tuesday but needed more work clothes so I hit the mall by myself. I was also pretty happy about going shopping with the money that's been owed to me for so long! At the mall I bought a pair of tapered dress pants that were surprisingly flattering on me. I hate wearing dress pants because I always think they look odd on me and usually I'm in skinny jeans or black tights so I don't like loose fitting pant legs. Well these pants fit me great and I can't wait until they come out with more colors. The ones I purchased were in black and for the first time the length actually fit me perfectly and I didn't have to get them hemmed up, that almost never happens when I buy pants! Then I bought a blazer and two blouses. I tried on tons of blouses at Express but I wasn't very happy with their color selection but when I saw a black blouse accented with pink floral I grab that and checked out assuming it was the same style blouse that I had been trying on since it was on the same rack as the others but when I got home I put it on and noticed it didn't have a collar on it. I don't like it very much without a collar, I'm debating if I should just try to make it work or go back and exchange it for another blouse. Even though I only bought four items of clothing, it took a while because I had to try on a lot of things and usually when I shop I just like to grab things and go. Trying on tons of clothes was exhausting but I'm happy with what I bought and now I have some new stuff to update my business casual wardrobe. I also bought some other non-related clothing stuff at the mall so I had a productive shopping day by myself =).

I'm really happy with the company I'll be working for so far. When they told me what the schedule was like I wasn't very happy with the late hours so I asked if I could work earlier in the day and they made some changes so I would only have to work 2 late days and the rest of the days 9am-5pm instead of everyday late. After that change I asked if I could take off 4 days out of the month that I was scheduled to work because I'm taking my 40 hour domestic violence training certification. They said it was possible to work around that and I could discuss how I wanted the hours changed on Monday. They've been very accommodating and I think I'll be a great fit to their team since I've ready been hitting it off with the two HR people because we all share the same type of humor. When I tried to follow up with the domestic violence shelter I interviewed with they told me they were still interviewing candidates so at this point they missed out on hiring me! And during the workshops I've been making that very clear to them because out the twenty five people there I've demonstrated that I have a sound in-depth knowledge of domestic violence, am able to build rapport with all the participants and have strong public speaking skills so they missed out =p!

Also, me and Lawrence have decided to have our wedding in Aug 2016. Starting my career and moving into a bigger place is already going to be a lot of work and I've decided I wanted to put my time and money into our new home instead of a wedding this summer. Plus having more time to plan things is definitely needed for us and a bigger budget for waiting another year isn't all that bad either.
