Tatsuya placed his hand on Ryo’s forehead and gave a sigh of relief.
“Thank god. Your temperature isn’t high now.” He turned around and soaked a towel in a basin of water, placing it on his boyfriend’s forehead. Ryo gave a low moan and opened his eyes, with unspoken gratitude at Tatsuya’s concern and devotion.
“How are you feeling?” Tatsuya asked gently.
“Like shit.” Ryo replied grumpily, feeling his body aching and snuggling deeper in his blanket. Tatsuya laughed at his boyfriend’s childishness and kissed his cheek.
“You will get better soon.” The older man said in an assuring tone and stroke Ryo’s jet black hair. Ryo looked up into his lover’s eyes and for some unknown reason; he began to feel choke up seeing the loving look engraved in those orbs.
“Hime…” Ryo mumbled.
“Yes my dear?” Tatsuya replied, taking another set of damp cloth and carefully wipe the sweat off Ryo’s neck. Ryo gulped and gave a long sigh.
“Thank you…for your help…Sorry for making you come all this way to Osaka…even though you’re busy with your drama…” Ryo said with embarrassment and thankfulness. Tatsuya was slightly surprised at Ryo’s kind words. He gave a small smile and kissed his cheek again.
“Isn’t it my role as the love of your life to help you up when you fall? Hold your hands and stay with you during those hard times and until the end?” Tatsuya mused lightly, removing the now hot cloth from Ryo’s forehead and soaked it in the cold water again.
Ryo stayed silent as he kept staring at his princess who stayed up all night taking care of him. He closed his eyes lightly and recalled the crazy roller coaster events that occurred in the past months. His princess who came all the way to Osaka late at night when he found out that he was sick. His biggest comforter who held him when he felt that the world hates him after leaving NEWS. His confidant who kept all his inner feelings and secrets away from everyone. Ryo no longer fear being alone. With those eyes and his bright smile, Tatsuya can see all the pain he was trying to hide.
“Hime…” he croaked.
“Yes my love?”
“No one in the world can replace you…You are the only one…I might be a useless person who has never done anything for you because I’m selfish. But for today, I am telling you that no matter if it’s Tokyo or Osaka or Egypt, I will be there for you… Just like how you were there for me…” Ryo mumbled incoherently, slowly feeling the drowsy effect of his medication taking over.
Tatsuya laced his fingers with Ryo’s and continued listening, secretly enjoying Ryo’s half-medicated self confessions.
“Hime, you were always there for me. No matter how crazy life has been, you made time for me and I appreciated it. Thank you…” Ryo thanked sincerely. Tatsuya could feel tears in his eyes and held Ryo’s hand tighter.
“You’re welcome. I will never leave you…No matter what people say and do, I will always protect you, Ryo. Because… you and I belong together.” Tatsuya whispered.
“Don’t ever let go of my hand, ok?!” Ryo whined, pulling their entwined fingers and placing it in between his cheek and his pillow, snuggling into their warmth.
“Never…”
I’ll never say “goodbye” to you, even when this world ends
