mock-rings and such...
Last weekend, I was in complete panic mode when I realized I couldn't find the sapphire earrings that Jon gave me for my last birthday. We spent the day ripping/cleaning the apartment looking for them. After 4 hrs of activities, we still came up empty handed.
"How could I buy you a diamond ring if you are going to lose it?" Jon asked casually.
*WHIRRRRRRRRRL!!! WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRl!!!! WHIRRRRRRRRRRL!!!* Alarm bells started ringing in my head.
oh shet oh shet!! omigawd!!! Jon is not going to marry me because I'm careless with my jewlery!??! oh shet!! oh gawd!! what am I going to do!??! Why can't I be more careful with these darn things?!?! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"but...but.... " I stammered trying not to freak out. deep breath. "We'll find the earrings."
After yet another through look through of the lil bags in my jewlery box, Jon found my sapphire earrings. I laughed triumphantly. "see!!! I didn't lose them!! they were just well hidden!!"
He gave me a "harmph".

I vented about the jewlery problem with a female friend of mine and she started laughing.
"Girl, haven't you heard of Mockrings?!?! Nowadays, almost EVERYONE have a mockring made for travelling etc. That way you can have the real thing locked up and safe."
Hmmmm mock-rings eh? sounds like a brilliant idea. But isn't the ring supposed to be symbolic of our marriage? wouldn't wearing a mock-ring make the marriage.... fake?
