Well, I survived the H1N1 vaccine. The reaction was absolutely horrible for a day and then just stopped. Phew.
So, anyone seen The Princess and the Frog yet? I LOVED it to bits!!! Trying desperately not to date myself I remember fondly the Disney Golden Age, and I'm not afraid to say I'm a major otaku of those movies. I watched them over and over, learned the songs by heart and sang them all the time, and frenzy-collected any merchandise I could manage to get by giving the puppy-face to my mom. When Disney shelved the traditionally animated movies, my heart was broken. So many bad things happened to me during the Bush Years, and I admit, I took this personally. I couldn't believe that the company founded and upheld on traditional animation could actually decide they'd never do it again. When I read several years ago that they were returning to traditional animation, my heart jumped! I've been waiting, not-so-patiently, for this movie to come out since then. They did not disappoint! It's so wonderful I wish I had the money to see it every day! No, I'm not gushing! Shut up! :P
Unfortunately, the general populace has disappointed me, since it's not making anywhere near the box office numbers it deserves. Somehow I think that it's partially still because of racism. I was shocked when I saw it on the first day and it was already in the back of the movie theater in a smaller room than movies I hadn't even heard of. I live in a rather, ehem, "white-washed" city, if you will, so my immediate thought was that the owner of the movie theater was racist. I could be wrong, but I've been exposed to horrible racism in my life, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Anyway, if you haven't seen it, you should. You'll love it...unless you're a humbug. Happy Holidays, everyone. (except humbugs) XP :D
