Our Childhood

Well there are things that Billy has forgotten,
Like where our parents wont ever know about -
Staying over the Coliseum Motor Inn,
Ditching our classes for the Lido sand,
We slept outside for Jones Beach concert tickets,
Or accidentally took the train to Montauk.

The day we took over Adventureland,
And we snuck into "the" Safety Town,
Last minute trips out to Suffolk,
Or a show at the Downtown.

Fall nights at Amityville Horror House,
And winters at the EAB tree,
On New Years we wouldn?t be caught dead in Times Square,
Summer swung around,
And the beaches became our new home.
With Long Beach & Fire Island,
We?ve always got a place to go.

Eating dinner at the famous All American,
is what us Long Island kids grew up on.
Our parents brought us to Fun Zone,
And now Roy Rodgers is nowhere to be found.

We usually choose between a Jew or an Italian,
And over 20 bucks for a haircut isn?t bad.
Do you remember dodge ball and Amy Fisher?
All those local band shows?
When our nights consisted of Iceland?
Our days of Roosevelt Field?

Now they tell us to go away to college,
Maybe even to Adelphi, Hofstra or Post,
Then there are the few, who really didn?t pursue,
And can be found @ N-A-S-S-A-U.

Admit you have cruised the Pike,
You know what was before LIPA,
You know all the stops on the LI double RR,
Especially when you come home from a show.
Drunk off your ass when changing @ Jamaica,
And everyone - even the conductor knows.

We all hate growing up on Long Island,
But once you leave, its always gonna show.
This was where your personality came from,
And it has everyone you know.
