(no subject)
Well, it has been a while since I updated. Lots had happened, mainly me deciding what i want to do now that I have left uni.I wasnt going to mention any of it to anyone for a while yet in case not much comes of it for a while but im getting so busy and a little bit stressed with it all that I thought I might vent on here.
Anyway, for a long time I have said that I wanted to own a pet shop. I think running my own shop like that is something I would be good at, and a PET shop seemed the obvious way to go. So, after considering it for a while and thinking it was a daft idea right now I decided to have a chat with my mum. I thought she would be all 'no no no' lol, but she was in fact quite supportive. We discussed all the pros and cons and basically decided that if I was ever going to do it now would be the time while I dont have any other financial commitments.
Obviously its not just me doing it, its ric too. We have hunted high and low for a suitable shop and finally found a shop in Lancaster for sale. We love Lancaster so it seemed perfect. I went to the bank and had a meeting with the business manager who basically said that being a graduate wouldn't go against me, which i thought it might because i have no real money behind me. It all just depends on whether the accounts for the current business show whether they can afford to pay back a loan. We initially looked at a pet shop for sale in Morecambe, but when we requested the accounts she was actually losing nearly £1000 a year! Not good. It was a fantastic pet shop though in a great location and we really think we could turn it around, but the bank just wouldnt finance it. So we found lancaster. We now have the lancaster accounts and they are great. He makes over £50,000 a year profit and currently pays 2 members of staff which we wouldnt need because we would work there ourselves so that was great.
So anyway, we have an appointment for an official viewing of the place on Thursday, even though we know it really well anyway because we've been there a million times before. I also have another appointment at the bank to discuss the accounts.
Its all a bit scary, its a big thing to take on but its something i soooooo want to do. I couldnt stand the thought of being stuck in a boring job i hated and this is something me and ric get to work together on and something i think we will be good at.
There is still a lot against us just yet though. We need to be approved for the loan, the place has to be valuated and we need to get in there before someone else snaps it up so we will see. The other thing we have said is that we wouldnt mind owning a sandwich shop. I know its something completely different to a pet shop but its another option to consider if the pet shop doesnt work.
So who knows, its going to take a while yet but its kind of looking good. It may all fall through but if it does at least Ive given it a go, I would regret it if I didnt.
The other thing i have just found out it that my results are on weds which im really really scared about! Argh!
