Autumn arrival

Ew, sounds like there are lots of folks at the office who are sick. I was gonna head in today for one last round of training for ze new guy, but I woke up feeling like lawnmower death as it is, so ain't no way I'm setting foot in a den of germitude! Y'all can keep your gack, thanks. Love ya, mean it.

Yep, got no time for that -- here we are hitting the 40 week mark now. This is it. And yes, I'm ready...no really, really seriously ready. As in, I'm finding pregnancy well-nigh untenable and have officially decided it is now time to get on with things. I've gone from stoic and happy and lighthearted about it to "Dear god NOW NOW NOW NOW"...seemingly overnight. I am so uncomfortable, I'll admit it. I've started my conversation with the bean about this, and by the end of the week I'll also be starting my conversation with an acupuncturist and all the hippie home remedies for encouraging labor. I know that it's the sprout who decides and not me, but I figure it doesn't hurt to get my mental state to the right place and do what I can to start encouraging my body to be ready. My own birth was 29 or 30 days overdue, and momma's having NONE of that, child. Oh no. And I will do whatever I can to avoid a hospital induction too...makes my skin crawl to think of it. I really pray that we can go through this whole thing naturally and with little intervention, and I am so grateful for the freedom to make that choice.

We did fly-bys on four parties this weekend including the BMan staff thank you party, our way of waving the flag one last time and saying goodbye to our social circles for a little while. And although all I had to do was get in the car, walk into the party and take a seat, I'm physically wiped out from it all. Lovely to see folks, and get a last hug from good friends...but whew! I'm toast.

We still have to deal with the car seat now that T. has fallen in love with a certain one, a couple of other nursery-type things, and all, and unfortunately I have to spend today writing up processes for aforementioned new guy, but after that I'm going back to bed and probably going to stay there for a while. We have diapers and a bunch of frozen lasagnes and a birth tub....let's rock!
