Tsunku's comment

I have some important news to share.

All members of H!P Elder Club, namely Morning Musume OG (Nakazawa Yuuko, Iida Kaori, Abe Natsumi, Yasuda Kei, Yaguchi Mari, Ishikawa Rika, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Tsuji Nozomi, Konno Asami, Ogawa Makoto, Fujimoto Miki), Inaba Atsuko, Satoda Mai (Country Musume), Melon Kinenbi, Maeda Yuki, Matsuura Aya, Miyoshi Erika, Okada Yui and Ongaku Gatas, will be graduating from Hello!Project on 31.3.2009.

Most of theses girls have already graduated from Morning Musume and other groups.
They have been appearing on stage since they were teenagers.

After the 10th year anniversary has passed, they have realized that it is necessary to smash through the stereotypes that have been built up for them by now, and find courage to begin a new path towards their future careers.

Personally, I have big expectations for their future efforts, and I would like to announce my support for these girls.

I also hope you will keep supporting both current Hello!Project members and the members who are going to graduate.

Nakazawa Yuuko's comment

Effective from 31.3.2009, H!P Elder Club members will be graduating from Hello!Project.

Since my graduation from Morning Musume in 2001, I have been in charge of the leader position in H!P.

H!P has been a place where we have been putting all out efforts into creating and expressing songs and performances.

Now it is time for every member to leave this place and take a new step forward, but we will definitely keep putting all our efforts to bring you dreams and excitement.

As for the future of H!P, our juniors (kouhai) will take over and carry on that spirit. Please give them even bigger support.

....

Well. This is news.

All of them. Like... ALL of them. Yossi, Mako, Mari, Kaorin, Nacchi, Ayaka, all of Melon Kinenbi... everyone else.. Oh my god.

Alright, it took a little time for this to sink in. And I guess I can kind of see where Tsunku is going with it. It's not necessarily as if the girls are all going to get tossed out into the cold. As it is, a lot of the older members are inactive and their talent is wasted. We don't know what's going to happen.

I definitely think, though, unless Tsunku is a miracle worker, he's killed H!P for good. I mean, at best, Morning Musume is mediocre these days (don't get me wrong, I still love the Gokkies and Rokkies and little Mitsui), and the Berryz and C-ute are struggling to measure up to even that. But Hello!Morning got such bad ratings that it was cancelled, they haven't had a chart-topper in ages, and they've just... lost all their personality. Half the reason Morning Musume alone was as awesome as it was back in the day was because there seemed to be a group of girls with unique characters. Kaorin the elegant, Mari the spitfire, Aibon and Nono the pranksters, Yossi the tomboy, Rika the girly girl, and so on. Back when Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari was actually FUN to sing.

The saddest part for me is that we may never see them perform together again. I'll never get the chance to go to a Hello!Project concert and watch everyone perform as a big group. It's been my dream for ages, and I'm bummed that it won't ever be a reality (at least as far as I can tell.)

My other greatest grievance is Mako. She just came back, and has had (sadly, as was predicted) NO air time whatsoever. Now, she's getting outsed. They didn't even put her picture on the Wonderful Hearts poster. If she doesn't perform, I'm going to kill something. Probably the UFA officials. Or Tsunku. It's bad enough she got passed over for the HANGRY&ANGRY deal. She looked ten times cuter in the h.naoto fashion show than Rika. >____>

So I guess this is it. I'm feeling a little blank, to be honest. God only knows what will happen from here...
