Emotional mess, OBVI.
So, this weekend was hella emo. I went to the senior art show opening and things started off really well. I had had a glass of wine or so before because it happened to be lying around needing to be consumed. I really enjoyed the art, seeing the people I knew who were involved, etc.
Then I saw him. And he probably saw me. And he maintained a distance of at least 20 feet and usually a wall between us at all times. Maybe I was just being overly sensitive, but I was convinced at some point that he was avoiding me.
"I need to drink." was my response.
Noelle and I bought wine and started drinking, then Lauren and Jade came and we continued drinking and at around 9:30 smoked. Smoking for me SHOULD be the last thing I do in any night... well, it honestly is the last thing I do in a night, regardless of time. But it should be done after I have already mingled and enjoyed the company of others, not before we even make it out the door. I was kaput for the rest of the night. We went to Lauren's after a bit and more smoking occurred, but I was just sitting there in a dazed state. Then we went to the party. We got there, walked around, and though I had been there uncountable times before, aspects of the house looked foreign and I ended up settling on a couch in the living room with Noelle and Lauren. I saw my dear friends from Italy and the Netherlands, had a bit of a talk with Simon, but I was too out of it to really keep up much conversation. Lia thought something was wrong, but I was just stoned, that's all. While talking with Simon, David showed up. He was stoned too. He, for some reason, pushed me so I fell back on the couch, while demanding "sitzen Sie" which means "sit" in German. People looked really disturbed at the concept of him randomly pushing me, but I was in a really mellow state, so I didn't really respond. After a few more minutes of just sitting around, we went back to campus, went to DG and had a snack, and then I went home and went to bed.
Saturday I don't recall much. I know that I did things that day, but I think it involved minor household projects and maybe a bit of studying. Maybe. That evening I got in touch with Lilli and we went to dinner at the Ram, where we shared a pitcher of beer. I borrowed a dress from Elizabeth Jaspers, changed, and Lilli dropped me off at the ballroom where the senior social was occurring. Kind of. I confused the grand ballroom and the trinity ballroom, so when I walked up the steps to the ballroom, I was confused to see a bunch of people I didn't know and confused to hear random announcements. I asked the people at the door what was going on. PROM. They actually said, "you can come to prom if you want." but I headed out to find the real trinity ballroom. I called Sam and he filled me in. I showed up and promptly got another beer. I spent the night talking and mingling with friends, drinking too much, and dancing a bit. despite the three beer limit, I managed to drink a good five and a half beers, I'd say. When that ended a bunch of us went to Copperjohn's, but on the way, I ended up going with some other friends to a car and drinking a bottle of wine. It was classy shit, certainly. There are plenty of pictures of us downing the bottle in the car, soon to surface on facebook, I am sure. Once we finished that, we went inside and danced the night away. I had a lot of fun dancing and apparently stirred some interesting responses from people for my dancing with David. While leaving, I wasn't ready to go to bed yet, at least I thought not, so I drunk dialed a handful of people, nobody answered, and I went home and drunk e-mailed and facebooked. Also not good. I definitely drunk facebooked the guy who triggered the drunken state of the weekend in the first place.
Sunday was a fine day, I suppose. I woke up early initially, but refused to get out of bed for another few hours. I didn't do much until Senior Alumnae Tea at 2, where I mingled with DG Alumnae and had punch and sweets and continued to think about having no plan for my future. We received anchor bottle openers and gerber daisies for coming. The bottle opener rocks my world. I want people to come to me needing bottles opened just so I can whip out the anchor opener and pop those caps off.
After the alum tea, I had a bit of time before my next meeting, I decided to work on my proposal for the film project, print it out, and then I went to the Bistro to meet with Bo and Brian. We "discussed" matters a bit more, achieved nothing, and went back inside the bistro to ask the opinions of esteemed bistro employees and friends. Of the people we asked, 3/4 or perhaps 4/4 chose my idea. Not because Sam's was bad, but mostly because mine was better organized and presented. Given the same amount of time and the same resources, it is fair. Once we had our idea chosen, we went outside, Brian and I smoked cloves, and we discussed ideas, direction, characters, etc. We worked on this until the Wulapalooza meeting and then I went to DG to get ready for our senior meeting of awesome. I was there until about midnight. It was slightly ridiculous. Tonight though, is gooner's, and it should be fun. No thesis class either, which is good.
Anyway, today, I slept in, though I had intended to get up on time or early to work on my thesis of doom. I didn't. I went to class, went to lunch at DG, and now I should be working on my thesis of doom, but I had to rant about my emo weekend instead. Great.
Not that anyone reading this will have any direct relation that I can think of, but my heart goes out to anyone affected by the tragedy at VA Tech today.
