Friday:
Anyway, I accidentally gave Adam the wrong phone number, so it is a good thing I decided to go to the hauptbahnhof anyway, because I found him there. First thing we did was... run errands! Yay! I had to put money on my card for doing laundry and then I had to return a library book, hollerrrrr. Apparently I was late and already owe a fine. Fun. Anyway, then we went back to my place so Adam could shower and nap because he had been stuck sleeping in the London Stanstead Airport, oooh, cozy. So, for some reason I was convinced that Karneval was huge and this weekend and that we should get costumed and go out that night, so we got costumed (I was a cat/lion again and Adam was an alien/robot) and then went out, but realized when we got to the uni-platz that there weren't tons of people there and that there weren't tons of costumed people anywhere. Ummmm... what? Anyway, using the spit on finger method, I managed to wipe the eyeliner from my nose, pull off my ears and tail, and we were then normal looking. We went to the bar which serves absinthe, but didn't order absinthe, we just had beer and tequila and rocked out to the hardcore music. After a while we decided to go to another bar and we went to the one that I went to with Anna and were once again surrounded by people singing along to every song, except for the ones that we knew really well, then we were the only ones. It was really crowded, as usual, and we just stood around singing and talking when we could hear each other. Eventually we left and yep, that was the night. It was pretty fun.
Saturday:
French Toast! Hollerrrrr. Anyway, breakfast, kind of late, mini lunch, then we went out, I went to the bank (I am poor AGAIN) and to H&M to just browse. Adam went to the castle. I ran into Luke, Julia, and Carey. Adam and I eventually met up again and went to the market, went back to my place and had dinner. Then we were just hanging out and whatever and then we ate lots of candy and drank beer before going out. We finally went out, and we had our "costumes" ready, but not on. I had lost the cat ears somehow the night before, so I decided that I would be one of those poor english newsboys who say things like "'ello gov'na" and "extra, extra, read all about it!" and adam would once again be the robot/alien. We went to the Uni-Platz again and there were NO PEOPLE. WTF? The sign totally said 25-28, but it didn't give times, so anyway, I totally missed out on anything Karneval related. Oh well. Another year. Anyway, we decided to do some bar hopping again, but first we went to Cedars, the lebanese restaurant with a bar and hookahs. We sat down and then ordered a hookah with apple flavored coal. Anyway, obnoxiously enough, the place was full of american high school students from the military base. When we got there a group of boys were sitting at one table and then were very welcoming and pointed for us to sit down and started talking to us. One larger table of obnoxious american kids on the other side was replaced by another louder table during this opening scene. Anyway, one of the kids asked "Do you guys go to the high school?" Then another interjected, "No idiot, if they went to the high school we would have seen them" and then some sort of interrogation began as to where we were from and where we were going to school or whatever. Then one kid asked "Are you guys on a date?" "No" "Hey, it's okay, you can call it a date, it's obviously a date, but you don't have to fuck!" Ummmm... awkward? Anyway, that group eventually left and we took over their table because it was at least a couple feet further away from the other louder group. We had fun smoking and talking and stuff, and talking about how, having done about the equivelant of "bad things" he would technically be "the bad one" in his family, while I was "the good one" in mine. Mwahaha. During the bathroom break time, I went and Adam held down the fort (table) and while I was gone, apparently these two 16 year old girls who were sitting upstairs and had come down for a couple minutes to see who was downstairs had stopped at our table and since Adam was at the time alone, one of the girls invited him to go with them. Hahaha. Adam is quite the 16 year old girl's man. Anyway, once we finished up here we decided to go to a couple bars, we went into one that was playing disco and everyone inside it was at least in their 30's. It was a cool bar though, there was a big fake tree in the middle of the bar, which was like an island in the middle. There was a disco ball and several plastic twirly decorative things hanging from the tree as well. We ordered some beers and just enjoyed being in the disco tree bar. We kept getting more and more crowded though. Did you know that Madonna's recent song "Hung Up" uses sampling from some disco song? Yep. We heard the music and were all prepped to sing along and rock out to Madonna only to discover that it was not Madonna and that we didn't know the words. Oh. Some random guy in the window was tapping and trying to get attention, so I pointed to a guy and he nodded vigorously so I tapped him and asked if he knew him (in German) and he said "it's for you" and I was like... huh?? Noooo... what? Anyway, he went out there and apparently the guy was just joking with me. Komisch. Anyway, we left and ended up going back to Gasthaus am Mohr (the same one I went to with Anna, and then with Adam the night before) and once again started out with some awesome sing along action. Once again there were also songs that we were totally unfamiliar with as well. The place started to kind of clear out, and then we found some booth and sat down to drink our beers. Right after I had probably too loudly commented on a neighbor's dancing. Have you ever seen 16 Candles? Remember the scene at the dance when Anthony Michael Hall is trying to dance with Molly Ringwald? Remembed his wicked awesome dance moves? Well. this guy had them too, and he was also small and awkward. It was great. Anyway, we sat down and were talking, singing along when we could, or whatever. Suddenly, out of the blue, this random guy slides into the booth next to me and like, tries to grope my but while he clinks my glass, then he just slides back out and leaves... bizarre... funny. We laughed about that for a minute and then went back to talking or whatever. Then, he was back. He tried to grope my ass again and toasted (Prost) me and Adam, but then tried to kiss me! I said no and pushed him away and he stumbled away. A moment later a friend of his (we assume) came and started apologizing to us (mostly Adam, actually, probably because everyone thought we were on a date the whole night, except for the 16 year old girls) and we just nodded or shook our heads and made hand gestures as seemed appropriate while saying "alles klar" and looking really goodnatured. The guy went back to the bar and the guy who he had been apologizing for started trying to grope and make out with him! Whaaa? We became very unsure of what this guy was after... apparently he was after whatever he could get. Once we finished our beers and were satisfied that we didn't know any of the songs they were playing anymore, we left, caught the bus, and that was the end of night to of "karneval" in Heidelberg.
Sunday:
Breakfast! Ummm, yeah, we are boring. We had breakfast and I swept the floor and Adam is doing homework and I am writing in this and then I have to do laundry and stuff. Wooooo. Sundays are never exciting.
Tomorrow I will be leaving at some ungodly hour for the 3 day mini cruise. Exciting. I'll probably be MIA for a few days then, and then I'll certainly have plenty to write about when I return. How can I spend a day in Amsterdam without having good stories? Right.
Annnnnd, that's all.
