I let you catch a glimpse today
of my softer side
a little laughter
the hint of a smile
but the real goods
were right there on my sleeve
exposed and tender
as you shared your pain
I'm not as brave
once bitten...
you know how the rest goes
so I hide in plain sight
just waiting for you to see
Me
underneath the sarcasm and innuendo
the bravado of a broken heart
And I know it's a crime against us
I'm guilty
but it's my right to remain silent
till you've been judged
the risks calculated
because I dont know
if my walls can withstand
being patched again
And your persistant knocking
has them shaking
Can you see through the cracks?
If you looked close enough
you'd see me peeking back
scared and cautious
but ready to tear down
these towers and let you in
