Um...yeah. I'm dead on my feet. I've been working on this FDA soil survey at the diagnostics lab and its starting to bore me. There are literally hundreds(340)of samples...thank goodness there haven't been any potatoe cyst nematodes found. Yeah, that is the critter we are looking for. Exciting huh? Anyway...Calvin and I have the isolating process down. On Monday we screwed up a few samples since our technique sucked. We got in a little bit of trouble because of our mess up. The government doesn't like inconsistancy apparently. Luckily the samples came out clean after the techs looked at them...so the department of michigan ag won't fire our butts. Yay.

Fred my boss told me something exciting. He's trying to get a grant approved so we can do PCR on our nematode samples. Which means....I'll be learning how to do PCR and doing their samples!!!! I know that sounds boring too, but learning how to do PCR has been a goal of mine for quite some time. I'd like to learn before I have the class. I think BLD/MT students learn this sometime next semester. Hmm...I really don't know though. Anyway...excitiment!

Also, I am pretty sure I got the position at the hospital. Let's hope the money comes flowing in now. I need it. I think I'll have to do more phelbotomy now...ugh, I'm not a fan of drawing blood...and it isn't because I dislike blood. People are cranky when they are poked with needles. Not that I blaim them...but honestly, it would make my job a hell of a lot easier if people didn't faint. It scares the shit out of me.

Laters!
