I have been wanting to have this rant for a while now, and I think today I may just be in a bad enough mood to do it.
Can I just say how much I HATE 99% percent of radio music at the moment? Every time I turn on the radio there is some fucktard wannabe ‘rock’ being flogged like a fucking dead horse, and it’s time to let it go. Ok, if we can’t make rock music without stupid lyrics (anything by A Simple Plan) or that blatantly rips off other songs (Grinspoon and Jet’s allegedly new songs) then can we just please say rock is dead and move the fuck on? Jet are one that really annoy me. With the surge of ACTUALLY good Australian music in 2004, you would think that we could put this incestuous band under the rug. Has anyone else noticed that they’ve released like ten million singles off their album? Probably not as they all sound the same. As far as I’m concerned, Grinspoon and Jet’s new songs may as well be covers, as they both liberally borrow melodies from other songs, attach them to bland original stuff and call it a new song. And that song about the 80’s, Madonna or whatever is just a vile Wheezer-wannabe cash-in. A Simple Plan have the fakest American accents I think I’ve ever heard, which is weird, because they’re American! And the more times I hear Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved”, the more I want to throttle the nearest Australian Idol contestant I see.
