Lars and the real girl -

The premise of the plot is a little far fetched. The supporting cast is too sappy but I guess that's how life is. We don't often have to face extreme opposition or disapproval. There are no obvious heroes figures or heroic deeds or breakout acting. Its so vanilla that its easy to forget that I've seen this movie. The tepidity of the script was probably intentional though I must say, the vanilla is well made.

3:10 to Yuma -

This movie is scripted as a western. It should be relatively simple to throw in drama and heroism - easy pegs for the white hats and black hats. It does this in parts but never with the confidence of a script knowing where it wants to go. The blame might lie with the director. Shticks which audiences use to understand the story and pick sides are too low key to be notable. Too conversational to be a gripping western.

Chak De India -

Uneven pacing, brilliant casting.

Superbad -

OMG - the funny movie of the year. Profane, juvenile, zany, fast paced - very comfortable about being risque but conveying the inherent vulnerability of adolescents entering the never ending stretch of adulthood..

Michael Clayton -

What happened to the taut scripts and evolved story lines of legend ? Middling good script, confusing set pieces and a shameful, terrible waste of Tilda Swinton's menacing paleness.

Still to watch - "American Gangster", "No Country for Old Men", "Into the wild", "Gone baby Gone"

Check back when you have a moment - i might catch one of these babies this weekend.
