Yes Communication Device Is An Accurate Description But More Importantly Is This Meant As A Prank By One Of The Humans Or Something Sowing Seeds Of Confusion And Perhaps Even Discord By Imitating Others Quirks And Directing People To Unspecified Locations Or Should I Interpret This Instead As An Indication That The Coral Is Unstable And Drawing Multiples Of People From Different Points In Time
[Kanaya flicks to the video feed in order to try forcing the imposter to reveal themselves, or at least demonstrate to anyone else following the SFC that it wasn't her.
She doesn't expect to see a video broadcasting already, much less one by an adult troll, and certainly not one clad in her blood color. So there is now another young troll staring at the screen.]
[This surprise doesn't fade quickly, since it was far from the obvious thing she had expected. She stares at the screen, connecting the information this look-alike already gave with the things she knows of her own future.]
You said that your last memory was of dying and you are significantly older than I am so you cannot simply be me, but from further head in time.
[video]sufferrogateSeptember 27 2011, 00:39:04 UTC
Although I have only just met you, I can say with confidence that I am not you and you are not likely to be me, child. Though your similarities to my younger self are shocking, I would like to think I would be able to recognize...me.
[Kanaya's first response is of skepticism, but she leans in closer to the SFC to better take in the adult troll's features. There are fine differences, which are probably not all from the difference in age. And this just raises further questions.]
I'm not sure if that is a relieving thing to hear or not. Since it means I don't know who you are.
[And she's an adult, which on Alternia itself would have been dangerous---given that those adults who hid on the planet tended to be vicious about ensuring their own survival.]
[video]sufferrogateSeptember 27 2011, 01:08:39 UTC
[ Such similarities between two Trolls make her immediately think of the myths about ancestors and descendants, but she is reluctant to make such an assumption, partly due to them being myths.
And partly due when in the world did I fill any pails. ]
And I do not know who you are. I do, however little it may mean coming from my mouth, have no intentions of harming you.
[Knowing the more successful FLARPers, Kanaya doesn't discount the stories of ancestors. But uncanny resemblance alone isn't a reason to conclude such a thing.
One advantage that Kanaya had in growing up was living in a physically isolated location with a lusus who was both capable of defending her and inclined to doing so. She doesn't have quite the same degree of fear toward an adult troll as some of the others might. It helps further that this adult might be one who had properly left, and posed no lasting danger to the youths.]
I cannot quite take your words as true simply because you said them, since I already have reasons to be wary of you. But I can check how sincere you are through further conversation.
[video]sufferrogateSeptember 27 2011, 02:18:04 UTC
That is an entirely reasonable request and I thank you for giving me the possibility of proving I have no ill will towards you or any of the other children.
I assume you must be Kanaya. If my assumption is incorrect, then there is even more strange things going on than I have already been told.
...I am Kanaya. But how do you already know that name?
[She checks the time the initial message was posted. There was enough of a delay that the others might very well have mistaken it for something she was saying.]
[So much sense that it's a little embarrassing she actually asked. Oh well. So the adult look-alike has already chatted with at least one of the others. Hopefully any confusion was cleared up quickly. And to equalize what they know about each other a little further, Kanaya raises a slow question.]
You have a means of addressing me, but I don't know of your name yet...?
[video]sufferrogateSeptember 27 2011, 12:59:02 UTC
As I have explained to the other children, I had my name taken from me long, long ago. If you so wish to refer to me by something if only for the ease of communication, then freely refer to me as the Dolorosa.
[ She stares at Kanaya's symbol. ]
And it seems Sir Vantas may have been correct in his hypothetical conclusion.
Okay. I'll call you Dolorosa, if that is what you would go by.
[The use of 'sir' brings to mind interacting with some of the Prospitans, and Karkat's role as Knight.]
I don't know what his theory might have been. I haven't been checking any other previous conversations you've had over the device, since this conversation itself seemed a little more important.
[video]sufferrogateSeptember 27 2011, 17:40:26 UTC
That is an understandable choice of priorities. It is simple enough of a hypothesis that you need not find the conversation yourself. Though I naturally I have doubts over the plausibility, I cannot deny the possibility of what he said when the evidence is speaking right to me.
...Oh. Wow. Karkat thought that too, and said so to you? I mean, I know a few of the others had ancestors, Vriska in particular likes to talk about hers, but I didn't have any reason to think of one of my own until just now.
But More Importantly

You may very well be my descendant, child.
