My Brokeback Mountain adventure/ This Weekend

Dec 18, 2005 21:59

So I went to go see Brokeback Mountain this weekend with my friends Sparklezen and Brittany.  This wouldnt be such an accomplishment except for the fact that the movie is playing in all of ONE theater in the entire state of Arizona.  So we know that the theater is the Camelview 5 and that it's in Scottsdale near Fashion Square Mall, but do we actually know HOW to get there?  No...So when we realize we dont know where it is I come up with the handy idea of calling my ever-so-smart father for directions, who promptly tells me that we have gone too far and that we have to turn back and go down South until we hit Goldwater.  We spend like 15 minutes searching for nonexsistant Goldwater before we realize that it's actually North of Camelback and that my dad LIED...okay so maybe he just got confused, but he was so adament about it I say he just lied!  So we're going North...still looking for Goldwater....no Goldwater....at this point it's just sad...finally we figurte we've gone too far and pull a U-turn and head South again...and sure enough off to the right of the road is this tiny little weird turn-off/merge into an obscure little street by the name of Goldwater...YAY....yeah...we go down Goldwater, as instructed, hoping to find the theater...no theater...the street curves around until we're right back at the mall in pretty much the same location I first called my Dad for help nearly 20 minutes earlier with no sign of the theater.  I really dont know how we finally managed to find the theater...just that i looked out the window and saw a tiny little Harkins Theater sign which we promptly drove towards.

So when we finally get to the theater the 12:30 showing is pretty much full, with only really bad seats left to choose from (and we had left early just so that wouldnt happen...*sigh*)  But it was okay because there was a 1:20 showing of it as well so we just waited it out and got first choice of seats when the 2nd showing came around (yay!) So Britt was sitting in the big empty space designated as the waiting area for the second movie, all alone...looking so sad and pathetic whileSparklezen and I got snacke...it was very amusing for some reason.

Now, about htemovie...I dont want to ive spoilerts aeway or anything but it was AMAZING!  Some of the views were just beautiful and the story was so sweet and sincere...and the setting was so much more down to earth than say...Queer As Folk... (though i love thair imaginary little gay pittsburgh).  And the fact that the ploit spand such a long amount of time was just so...*sniffles*  it was very good...dramatic and agnsty but amazing none the less.  But the movie definitely reaffirmed my love for Heath Ledger...the boy can act and Jake Gyllenhaal (last name sp?) officially makes my list as well.  You all should go check it out...its going to win somthing for sure.

Oh!  And I have to mention the fact that during the emotionally climatic part of the whole frickin movie, these two old ladies (who didnt even know each other)  started fighting in front of us...they were like "You shut up!, no you shut up!" and they kept getting louder!  I hate people like that... Sparklezen kicked them though so that was amusing.

Anyways, after the movie, all three of us were pretty much emotionally drained, and miserable...all we could do to keep from breaking down into fits of tears was laugh at the most inane things as we searched for somthing to cheer ourselves up with.  So we sat in the car for like ten minutes, watching all the little gay boys trudge out of the theater in much the smae state that we were in...which just made us even sadder.  And all our conversations kept cvoming back to the movie which made us sadder.  And for some reason we couldnt think of any funny movies we could rent to cheer ourselves up...

On the ride home we drive passed mountains and Sparklezen was like "Oh no mountains!  they make me sad!"  then we passed a truck towing one of those horse carriers and she said that made her sad too, which was funny but sad at the same time.  sniffles... oh and then I finally managed to think of a movie that I thopught was funny.  I said somthing like- "Romy and Michelle's Highschool Reunion! THATS a funny mindless movie that would make us laugh!"  To which Sparklezen replied " Oh!  That IS a funny movie!!!  Wait.....Ive never actually seen it......dont they drive off a cliff in the end?"  Huge pause as I bust up laughing (in the state we were in it was possibly the funniest thing ever "OH no, that was Thelma and Louise!"  To which Britt and I just laughed harder as she tried NOT to crash while we died of laughter

I also went over to my friend Callise 's house Saturday night, because its one of the only times I'll get to see hr before she goes back to Texas...we had fun...I showed her Darren being cute in those old SG clips on their website...she showed me pics on deviant art...I squeed about Brokeback Mountain Unfortunately we both had to go to sleep early so we didnt get to do as much as we wanted to...she might be able to hang a buit monday or tuesday before she leaves though so that should be good

In OTHER news...Im overly nervous about final exams tommorow...which is why i am up at this ungodly hour typing all this out instead of sleeping like any normal person would be.  I just want the semester to be over...Two more Days....that's all i need to get through...just two more days!  I dont know if I can handle it...I feel like im about to explode already....final exams suck butt :(

Well I should probably try to get some sleep....argh....finals...
