Man. Lansing is a dark place in the summer time. Its been threatening rain now for like a week, and it totally sucks. Makes you tentative to ride anywhere really.
The farmers market is today though, probably gonna get some kale and some greens. Love it. Salad time.
This weekend there is a shit ton of good music going on. Friday is Michigan Meltdown, and Saturday the Oily Menace is playing with Sin Orden in Ryans garage. Its going to RULE. Please come out. I am told we play promptly at 5. No punk rock time, only GRIND TIME. I would love some Muskegon grind friends to come and carpool out to this.
Sometimes it makes it really hard and challenges your faith of being a Christian when people like Michael Bray are alive and well and Martin Luther King are killed. I guess they will get theirs, and what king spoke was a lot more radical. Really it makes me worried about the church in general, and the shape of the world. It feels so cold sometimes, really gets you down when you think too much about it. Just gotta keep on keepin' on I guess.
Decided I am going to be actively saving for an LHT. There is an envelope at home with the words on it. Need to ditch the car. I also may be buying another deep V, just the back wheel, for my IRO. Startin to break spokes again. Sucks. But man, riding brings me so much joy. In a world steeped in ugliness I guess its the little things that keep our heads up.
I am also thinking of dropping the math class I have registered for second term of the summer semester. I just want a break, I want the ability to travel, to be somewhere longer then a weekend, and the ability to not have to rush from point A to point B. Although it is only 7 weeks, and I do need to get it done, and I do hear during the summer its way easier. I guess we shall see.
Part of my misses the skee, but at the same time I know my productivity level and artistic level living in Lansing is at an all time high, eating healthy minus occasional Golden Harvest, riding my bike lots, working on music, doing design work, creating oily menace stuff, doing graphic layouts, things are good.
Man, I have some good friends too. Seriously, if I dont do a lot right, I surround myself with primarily positive people who I love and love me. In Lansing and Muskegon. Heres to finding out a few more people are moving to Lansing and getting houses and bringing more community to an otherwise bar based desolate town.
Oily Menace is playing a song on Saturday called "Vegan Potluck". Sing along, the words are "Vegan Potluck, out of luck!" and its about when there are potlucks and stuff at work and there is nothing vegan. Or in my case gluten free. Also we are doing a cover of a pete seeger song called "Song of the Punch Press Operator". Really we just steal a few lines of lyrics. But those lyrics are "Deep inside lives the dream that we are the master and not the machine" meaning that someday all workers will be equal and we won't live in a class system anymore. Its a small dream, but we are working with it.
Anyway, class is still like two hours away, but I might get a latte refill. Someone bring me some gluten free pizza right now.
