I cant believe this website still exists.

Ive changed so much since moving here. I dont think it was the actual move that changed me, just growing up and opening my eyes. Its still amazes me that this country exists in such poor condition. Proof that technology causes abandonment. Abandonment from raising your children, caring for your nieghborhood, living a life through your own eyes rather than a pixelated screen of classism, racism and lies. Little children play barefoot in the broken glass that covers the street in front of my house. I console the crying 6 year old girl while her mother is whatching Dr. Phil and her father is turning in his grave after a heroin od. Im officially playing nieghborhood whatchdog. We've been throwing stink bombs out front where the teenage crack dealers like to "chill". The police refuse to respond to anything unless a gun is mentioned in the complaint. Everything must go through 911, all complaints and questions will be scrutinized there. Why does the 4th district have a phone number? Im disapointed in the lack of community that most cities have. When did whatching Sienfeld become more important than whatching over ones nieghbor? on the upswing, Philly has more community gardens than any other major US city.

Sustainable Living Project:
This has shown to be a huge challenge. For those of you who are not familiar with sustainable living, description:
SL has alot to do with being self sufficient. Producing your own food, aquiring water, energy, clothing, etc helps alot. Living by your own means rather than squandering away every penny at your local Target. It is the abaility to reduce, reuse, recycle, and produce in an environmentally friendly manner. Detroit has one of the lowest sustainable ratings of any major city.

Food.
I started a roof top garden planted in old filing cabinets and other trash. Our tomato plant count is up to 30. We also have green beans, spinach, cucmbers, assorted peppers, onions, garlic, sage, parsley, cilantro, basil, french terragon, curry, rosemary, patchouli, and some other stuff. Everything is watered by rain water irrigation comming from a 60 gallon barrel attached to our gutter, found it in the warehouse Ive been working at. Dumpstering supplies us with most of our other food. Grocery store expenses have been widdeled down to about $30 per person. We also recently started brewing our own beer. $20 yeilds 5-6gallons worth of beer. We had a nice IPA, German style alt bier, now a choc stout. Also a good source of cash. Started grilling alot. Theres alot of half dead trees around to supply pleanty of firewood. Solar ovens work nice as well.

Utilities.
We use minimal electricity by simply not using alot of appliances. Water is the difficult part. Greywater toilet, airated faucets, laundry is done by hand. Showers still consume alot and Im trying to find a way around it. There is talk of improved rainwater storage. Phoneline is split from the nieghbors but we have no phone.

So far things have been running smoothly. Time to get going. Good luck everyone.
Suggestions welcome.
