Writer's Block: Places to Lay Your Head

May 26, 2009 15:26

Oh, good one.

Born and raised my entire childhood in Norwell, MA-on the South Shore. My parents bought the house in 1965, and sold it in 2002.

I was born in 1968 and moved to Boston for college, so I wasn't at the Norwell house the entire time, but that was always what I considered to be my home base.

Cohasset, MA for one year as a nanny.
Hingham, MA for one year as a nanny.

Boston, MA in the Fenway area for 3 years while in college. Lived in the same dorm, Riverway (at Wheelock College), the entire time.
Moved to Weymouth, MA for a year after Wheelock College.

Got my own apartment in North Quincy, MA after living in Weymouth. I moved three times in 7 years within 2 buildings in North Quincy....55 Glover Ave and 61 Glover Ave, both owned by the same older than dirt (yet meticulous) landlord. One teeny apartment barely big enough to fart in, then across the hall when the girl who lived there moved out, then when I had my back surgery I moved into the first floor unit in the next building. The other two apartments were on the third floor. I'm all set with apartment buildings with no elevators. First floor for me from now on.

Moved from North Quincy MA to Nashua New Hampshire. Lived in a first floor apartment with a shared deck for 5 years. Batshit crazy neighbors across the hall. Fought all the time. I miss that apartment, crazy as it was.

Went from Nashua all the way across the country to Seattle, Washington. I lived with Lino in Capitol Hill for the first 4 months or so I was here. His place is in Capitol Hill, and I love it there. If I could find a place to park my Airstream and still be able to work on it, I would move back into Capitol Hill in a heartbeat. Love all the freaky people and the little gay boys. I blend.

October I moved into my own place, where my fat ass has been for almost 2 years now. I share an L shaped house with a huge yard and a place to park my Airstream. I have gardens here that I have built the ground up-veggie and lavender beds. I have a nice big deck, with a place to entertain and grill on the BBQ. This is probably one of my favorite places that I've lived.

I do miss my childhood home. My parents sold it and downsized to a condo around 2002. Mom passed last year August, and Dad is still alive and kicking...I joke around that heaven doesn't want him and hell's afraid he is going to take over.
