The weather of northern aggression, part 2

Ah, the 3rd day after the storm, and the TV satellite is out, so, when we eat, we watch prerecorded shows. As we were consuming our chicken stew and watching American Experience: The Donner Party, it began to, well, snow...

We got a few inches last night.

Sorry to hear about the TV satellite. Don't forget that the internet can be a source of televisual entertainment, as well! Just set up a monitor and you're good to go. For example, you can view 44 full episodes of American Experience right on the PBS website. Or, you lucky ducks, in the US, can view lots of stuff through Hulu.

Yeah, it's nice to be able to see some things online. Looking at the American Experience link you sent (thanks, BTW), I see they are set to do the treatment on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire this spring, I guess since it is the 100 year anniversary of it. I remember reading about this in Smithsonian Magazine when I was a child and being horrified, and also learning a little bit about workers rights and the necessity for organizing labor.

AE is my favorite TV show. But i wish they would go back and use the old theme music and opening. It was gorgeous.

Y'all getting around OK in the snow?

Oh, we're fine with snow. There's a municipal budget here to deal with it, which makes a huge difference -- all snow is cleared from major streets and sidewalks in a timely manner. We've got snow tires on the car, so we're good that way too.

I take it you don't get snow where you are too often?

For example, last year, it snowed appreciably (for me, that's enough to coat the driveway and force us to leave a car at the bottom of the hill) 4 times. That never happens here. I even had my first white Christmas! And this snow that just happened, we haven't had this much snow in maybe 15 years. I imagine this will be another year of lots of snow and hellacious heat in the summer.

It may just be that the amount of money some industries are starting to lose to weather extremes may make environmentalists of all of us. Or at least it's a nice thought.

PS - your little dancing guy is making me tired :)
