And here's another thing about politics. I find it completely unacceptable that so much voting is done strictly along partisan lines. Why is this? Because every bill that gets brought up (on a state or federal level) is hundreds of pages of "Let's get as much of our agenda squeezed in as humanly possible!" (and on the federal level, every bill comes with god-knows-how-many unrelated riders to serve pet agendas and pork). I refuse to believe there is nothing that we can't come to some kind of consensus about for the best interests of all, and therefore when I am hired to overhaul the U.S. political system, I will be limiting bills to ONE TOPIC. Legislators will be encouraged to keep bills down to one or two pages, like a resume, to facilitate understanding. Longer bills will be appropriate in some cases but all these unrelated things thrown together for the sake of shoving them through has to stop.
