I love that. All of Lex's little secret messages to Clark, that weren't. What a roller-coaster in a good way here! Love how Lex goes along with Clark, then goes along with the not when Clark pulls back, and then...

And then Clark tells in. In his own oblique way, but Clark takes the step! And of course, Lex takes it further.

to where 'You're my best friend,' had been three days ago

I can't even tell you how much I like the Lex of my brain today. ^__^

In the beginning, even I thought the messages were for Clark. You should have heard my giddy squeeing when I realized otherwise.

And yes. Clark confessions are kind of my secret kink. Even if it's only the intent.

I had a list (longish) of all the links Lex has been writing on himself, seen and unseen by Clark.

And again, this: I love them giving everything to each other is very much a think for me.

Double-entendre.
Self-punishing Lex, writing on the body. A scarlet (violet?) letter.
Miscommunication even in coming together.
Lingering glances and touches that mean many things.
Confession.
Lex is not gentle. A threat, or else a promise, hissed in Clark's ear.

I'm glad you approve. ^___^ It was quite a bit of fun to write, especially since even I didn't know at the beginning that Lex's messages weren't meant to be seen by Clark.

I can't remember. Am I still playing hard to get?

Just too funny - I wasn't expecting that at all! And then it got serious and a little angsty but not too much. I love Lex's reaction to Clark's revelation - there's a feeling in there of spring and second chances and hope long forgotten. Just lovely.

My icon is very appropriate for the situation methinks.

I actually took out specific words so that it wasn't so hammered ('second chance' for a specific example). Sometimes I think leaving things a little more open gives the greater payoff emotionally. ^__^

I'm not one for declarations of love, but I think you'll be my first. I love you so much right now for this story. All the notes Lex was writing (and they might have been for Lex, but I think Lex knew Clark could read them) were wonderful. I loved how Clark reacted to them, and the whole bit at the end with Lex's admonishment against Clark giving him everything, and then clark wants to give it anyway! Yes, a thousand times yes! Just wonderful.
