FebFF. Set somewhere down the road in a universe that includes Batman. This story is (vaguely) inspired by Tallihensia's
Another Way to Fly and
fruitbat00's beautiful artwork it inspired.
Summary: Lex contemplates the so-called Justice League and wings (not wing!fic).
Batman is either no challenge or ridiculously complicated (quite like the public persona and the hero himself). Give him the leathery wings of a bat and no one in Gotham would 'bat' an eyelash at the addition to his costume. His cape and other tech sometimes simulates the affect already.
But for the man beneath both those masks, Lex imagines dark feathers. The fallen angel of vengeance. Blacker than his dark hair, glossy.
Superman is simple on every level. Classic white, the broadest span making him a large shadow against the sun when he flies above his city.
Lex imagines Green Arrow with the wings of a fly. Then he imagines himself as a child, plucking those wings off. He never did that to flies, but he feels a vicious thrill when he imagines Queen's suffering. Admittedly, he gets pleasure from imagining Queen with a hangnail, just so long as he's not wearing his smug smile.
At the moment, Lex is watching Bart Allen zip around as a blur on his cameras. Despite the destruction Bart's teammates are wreaking on Lex's un-secret facility, Lex can feel himself smiling.
Let Batman and Superman be stately, and Green Arrow be the insect he is. Lex imagines Impulse with the bright, quick wings of a hummingbird. A limited number of moves, but the hummingbird's grace and fascination are undeniable.
