The 9-Day What I Love About _______ Meme, Day 5

Apr 04, 2011 17:59

Think of the following: 1. your significant other; 2. your best friend or a family member; 3. your pet(s); 4. your favorite TV show; 5. your favorite character; 6. your favorite character relationship; 7. your favorite actor/actress; 8. your favorite book; 9. anything else that comes to mind. Then write about what it is you love about them, doing one per day for 9 days. If you have more than one favorite whatever, do as many as you want within that category for that day. That's all. Be as brief or as eloquent as you like. No tagging required, this is for fun!

I'm not sure what I can say about Ten, aka the Tenth Doctor, that I haven't said before.

I guess, to put it simply, he's still the Doctor I most enjoy watching. Perhaps it's because he was such a study in extremes. He had the highest highs and the lowest lows of any incarnation. He could go from giddy and goofy, spouting trivia and technobabble with barely a pause for breath, to dark and ominous as a building thundercloud. When he felt something, he *felt* it, and it was impossible for him to hide it, no matter how much he might try to deflect and distract. He could light up any room, always the life of the party, yet never part of it.

Nine bore the brunt of the aftermath of the Time War. Ten lived with the consequences. Not always well, but he tried.

He was quirky, fiery, brilliant, lonely, mercurial, kind and rude and scary and broken, all at the same time. And no matter how you felt about him, he was never, ever boring.

As for me, I find him just *fun*. The brainy specs, the rubbery expressions, the supernova grin, the oral fixation, and the hair that could've saved the universe by itself. And all those odd little touches -- the mini-obsessions with words -- the thing for little shops -- the inability to get through a list without screwing it up in some way -- the hair-ruffling, ear-scratching, neck-rubbing, etc. Not to mention his flirting, coupled with his obliviousness to the fact that he was flirting, topped by the look on his face when the woman in question finally just grabbed him and snogged him. (It was so precious, that look, like he'd been whacked over the head with a mallet.)

A tough act to follow, indeed.
