I am currently rereading Deathly Hallows to get in the mood for the second movie. I'm up to the bit where the first movie ended and I am curious. Harry made the decision not to go for the Elder Wand, but to concentrate on the Horcruxes. I want to know whether Snape knew about the wand, either from Dumbledore or from Voldemort once he began his search for it. If he did, why didn't he let Harry know about it? He could have sent another Patronus, a speaking one. If he didn't know, then why didn't he? Dumbledore trusted him , and Voldemort trusted him, so surely he must have known. Surely he loathed Voldemort for what he did to his beloved Lily so why wouldn't he let Harry know about the wand? I'd not really thought about it when I read the book the first time, but it's bugging me now. Did Dumbledore tell him about it but make him promise to let Harry work it out for himself? That would be cruel. It doesn't add up. Thoughts anyone?
