Ok, I probably shouldn't have chosen to listen to these in the pre-dawn darkness as I feed the herd...

Also, sprechen Sie Deutsch?

Yeah those Alice songs are downright creepy...well, many here are. But beautiful. I gravitate towards dark songs, as well as sad songs.

I understand German better than I speak it. I took German in high school and have German heritage (Austrian). I went to Germany a couple years ago. Practiced only a little just because I was SO scared of sounding stupid. But I could read signs and understand most people. I just look like a mute.
I am more fluent in Spanish so I wind up speaking a mix of German/Spanish sometimes. I remember some words in German, then forget some and fill it in with Spanish. Hahahaha

There are a lot of German representatives on this list (Stillste Stund, E Nomine, even '666' is a German band but sing in English and Spanish). I love world music, in general, so I find music everywhere I can. I'll take any recommendations, too!

Thanks for giving some of these a try. I like to pimp out interesting music!

Yeah, I was listening to the Stillste Stund Alice songs this morning, beautiful and creepy and not helpful with my brain in the quiet of the early morning ( ... )

Also adding because I'm curious, did you do the translations or did you look them up?

Oh I looked them up. I had to. It was spoken so fast!
But it's nice to learn on (phrases and pronunciations).
