Weddings are always chaos and madness, a flurry of relatives you don't remember and relatives you have never met. Somehow ours turned out to be a flurry of relatives who we aren't related to. . . or something. Our wedding was amazing. The ceremony was beautiful, the day was gorgeous, and everything on our end went flawlessly (I can't speak for my mom's experience). After the wedding part, Todd and I came outside to greet our guests and take pictures. I was reintroduced to Todd's cousins who I will never be able to remember (except the ones with strange. . . talents). Just as Bud was about to get everyone organized for pictures a lady I hadn't met yet came up to us and asked us to pose for a picture. That was pretty normal. Everyone was clicking pictures all over the place. I asked her who she was because I was certain she wasn't from my side of the family. I expected her to tell me she was a cousin, and aunt, a step-sibling, an old friend of someone's parents or grandparents. She said, "Oh, a friend from over the hill. Now why don't you come over here so I can get your picture in this light." WHAT???? Who was that crazy lady? She's still bothering me. Like a phantom who shows up at weddings, takes your soul with her camera and disappears forever. It reminds me of Ella Enchanted with the fairies who go from wedding to wedding bestowing unwanted gifts. Or Alice in Wonderland's cheshire cat, all disappeared except for its smile. I want my soul back.
