And so I return from a very pleasant 2 week vacation. I decided to take a road trip to Seattle to see
drleo.
Went up the 1-5 from California. Had a good day for it. The scenery was really nice for the most part. Got to see the major volcanoes in the distance on the way up. Kinda hazy in the distance but still pretty neat. Stopped for lunch in Weed CA. Great name eh? Oregon was a bit dull on the 1-5. There was an interesting mesa that didn't seem like it belonged. And the other thing about Oregon was the low speed limit to start with and lower speed zones far too often. But it was still pleasant. Took a long long time. Around 12 -13 hours. Did it all in one shot. Got a bit tiresome towards the end. But then I also got to see a nice full moon over Mt Rainier. Shame a picture taken out of a car doing 70 with a crappy old digicam just didn't turn out so hot. Alas.
Once in the Seattle area I hooked up with the good doctor and enjoyed the area. Did some shopping, alot of eating in the fine resturants up there, and alot of hanging out. Also got and played the hell out of the Force Unleashed. Love that game. Flinging stormtroopers around with the force and throwing lightening just never gets old for me. Which was good as sadly DrLeo had to work alot. But he did what he could. I had a wonderful time. Got to go back to the Sci-Fi museum - love that place.
Also went up to Canada! That was alot of fun as well. We went to Vancouver. Interestingly we were hassled more going to Canada this time than coming back to the US. Go figure. Vancouver is just stunning. Great natural beauty there and a lovely city. Seems like bit of a homeless problem but that's a city for you. Spent time at the park where I saw live wild raccoons from like three feet away. Spent a little time at the aquarium. And most of the day at this historic suspension bridge over a gorge north of the city and up in the trees there. That was just amazing. Loved it there. And there was this one building with a live tree like 40 stories up in the air. Dunno what was up with that but it was a sight to see.
And then it was time to head back. But this time I brought Dr Leo with me. We had a even longer drive down as I had a desire to try the scenic route down Highway 101 along the Pacific coast. Now this would have been a wonderful thing to do.. had the weather cooperated. I was informed later that the deadline is apparently September 15 and then it becomes rainy and gray for the rest of the year. This turned out to be true. What little of the Washington and Oregon coasts that we could make out - looked wonderful and would have been a pleasure to stop and spend some time on but for the rain and cool temperatures. Oh well. So the lack of a decent and dry view plus the added irritation of one lane roads with the wet and slow annoying people on them led me to bail out on the plan once it got dark. Reasoning that the next day would be no better I opted to do the whole trip in one day again and bailed for 1-5. This time it took like 16 hours. Not something I'd recommend but it was still kinda cool. Note - 6 hour energy works, but WOW is that stuff vile. But yeah left at 9AM and got in the next day at 4 AM. Much sleep followed.
Then that weekend we attended the wedding of
toob and
jakebe . That was very nice. Good to see a nice couple like that tie the knot. The reception and later follow up at Dave and Buster's was also cool. Also got to hang out with a whole bunch of other furs I haven't seen in a dog's age. That was nice too. And the next and last day we went to a Renaissance Faire with Bennie and Susandeer and another gaggle of others. Also a good time.
Then I took DrLeo back to the airport. This was not so fun.
And after that I've been trying to drum up the interest to rejoin my 'life'. There's not much there and I don't really care for it. Something I need to think about.
But overall - good trip, good times.
