Well that was fun.
In the sense of not even a little bit. Today was not a good one. First I end up not carpooling today because we didn't have enough people and the one guy who was available has this annoying habit of getting overtime in small snatches. So instead of being inconvenienced himself he wants to inconvenience someone else. I wasn't having it. So I drove alone. Then I get in trouble at work - OK that was my fault and a long story. But whatever. OK day was pretty heavy but no biggie.
Then.. on the way home. I'm driving merrily along and suddenly the car feels a bit odd and I'm hearing a strange noise. Didn't seem major but it was strange enough to have me pull over to check. Great. Flat tire. Bravo to the civic engineers - no loss of control or anything just an odd noise. So fine. I'm a man (physical evidence points to this ;) ) I can change a damn tire. So I go in the trunk get the spare tire, tools, and that crappy wind up jack that they give you in a car. Man that thing sucks. I spend like 20 minutes getting the thing up enough to deal with, pop off the cover and notice - hey a locking nut. Huh. Well that's OK I'm pretty sure I have the 'key' in the glove compartment... somewhere... under this?... hmmmm. Oh right. I took everything out when I had the car fixed from the rear ending. Never put that back. Well that blows. Now I'm hosed. But wait! I have the extended roadside coverage. And yay! It hasn't expired. I call em, they send a tow truck, we have to get to a dealership as they have all the 'keys' barely manage to get there on time and yadda yadda - the spare goes on.
The mechanic at the dealership was extra nice even added air to the rest of them. Major waste of time and dammit I *can* change a tire.. but it's over. I was planning to save up more before I replaced the tired but they have forced my hand. So I'm on the donut spare till I can get that done on Monday. I wonder if I have to make an appointment? Haven't bought tires in forever.
Also I got a lotto ticket on the off chance that karma needed balancing and for all the bad luck today I may get something out of it. Not holding my breath however.
