A small step forward!

After much intense practice with Sakaki-sensei, I have had a small breakthrough in my power. My voice once sounded completely inhuman when I used Mesmerismus. But through his careful training, it now sounds much better! Not completely normal-- there is still a strange preverbration quality to it that lets one know I am using my power-- but much ( Read more... )

Eh, doesn't really bother me much. Though I think a bit of forewarning when you're about to start doing your practice for that would probably help for the people who end up jumping out of their skin when they first hear it. Even if it is funny to watch happen.

...Will he bite at all if I try to touch him?

Oh, right. That movie. I always forget that's a Disney film for some reason. ...Though, wait. If you're old sempai could talk to him, wouldn't he have had his own name already? Or do birds not give themselves names, or if they do, it's not pronounceable by the human tongue or something? Always kinda wondered that about animals...

While I'm fluent in English, I've got no interest in teaching it myself. There are plenty of others who can speak it who have more patience when it comes to tutoring that particular language. But I'm also fluent in Okinawan and semi-fluent in Hawaiian (kinda rusty on that one, but it'd give me an excuse to talk more with my father's side of the family). Though like I said, not sure how many people would honestly be interested in two languages only spoken on a pair of archipelagos on opposite sides of the Pacific...and in small pockets on the western American coast and Brazil supposedly. Wouldn't get a whole lot of chances to make use of them unless you planned to spend a good bit of time in either location.

Perhaps I should move to one of the soundproof music rooms to practice.

He probably will not bite. If you want to try, he likes being scratched on his crest. And if it looks like he might bite, I can move him away from you.

The way I understood it is that they have their own language names for themselves, but let us give them names we can pronounce. It is a way of bonding with us.

I am not sure about those two. But we can try and see who is interested, of you wanted?

That'd work too.

I guess I can try doing that. I get the feeling I'm gonna wanna reflexively jerk my hand back if he makes any sudden movements, though.

Huh... That's pretty interesting to know. Would you even be able to pronounce his name in the Avian language? ...Now I'm starting to wonder what Osoreko-chan's name is in her own tongue.

Like I said, I'm not expecting much interest, if any at all. But I'm not doing anything else during the meetings, so yeah, might as well just see if anyone wants to learn them.
