Unfortunately, I dont mean trading in for the new model, but I havent posted in a while so I thought I'd re-start with a summary of the state of play, three months into the year.

As far as work goes, I'm still with the NHS doing general admin. Its boring, to the Nth power, but its money for nothing really. I'm applying for jobs as and when I see ( Read more... )

Hey Sudge,

Sorry to hear that you too are chained to the NHS. Although if you can stomach it, being a medical secretary apparently pays well. If you can type well, which I assume you can, it's not a bad placeholder until you get published, and a lot of medical students do it to pay the bills.

Anyway, the reason I wrote was that I probably qualify to proof-read your work. Apart from the fact that I'm interested to read it, I fulfil your criteria of not being a comic-book fan, and I'm also entirely pedantic about spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Anyway, the offer is there.

All the best,

Sedge

You sir, are a gentleman. I'm really really grateful that you'd proofread it for me. I know my grammar and stuff will be very all over the place (I cant get the hang of tabs). Also, I just hope you enjoy it. its all very well me writing for comic fans, but its not good if no one else can like it!

You're right about the NHS job. I complain and whine, but its a good solid job thats paying me well. The people I work with are cool too. I should just complain less ;p

I'lll get your email address from Matt, I can send you our stuff and we can chat about intellectually cool stuff! (umlaut, anyone?)

Rich is way smarter than me, so I'm sure he'll be able to help. I'd be really interested in seeing what non-geeks say - we've discussed the book a lot, but we're almost too close to comics to make any major calls. If key trends start emerging from the non-comic crowd, then be prepared to be brutal and make the changes. It might be worth having a 'non-negotiables' list though...

I'd volunteer to be a proofreader, but that would just mean me missing any spelling mistakes for the second time... ;)
